I'm sorry that this may appear a bit technical and confusing but it looks like we are no longer talking about getting AIrserver to work and more about getting your school network in a position that it can do what you need for elearning purposes not just this once but into the future. This changes slightly when you have an ipad assigned to a student/staff member full-time as you can then accept that the user of the ipad is whoever is on your records and then give the appropriate priveleges (access rights). Thus an ipad (which has no logon) will only ever get student priveleges (probably the lowest) and staff would get elevated when they logon. Security, IMO is much better provided by user logon rather than subnets in a school. However, I think it more likely that they are at a loss to provide you with the security someone may have defined (across student SSID and staff SSID) as well as provide open access to airserver (which won't work over different subnets). If the providers really are at a loss then time to change them.
